ICSI

What is IVF ICSI

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection is a next-level treatment of In Vitro Fertilization and a form of ART- Assisted Reproductive Technology. ICSI is used as an additional treatment with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) for treating infertility problems and disorders. In a condition of repeatedly failed IVF cycles, ICSI is used for the treatment to overcome male infertility problems. In ICSI procedure, sperm is directly injected into the female egg for fertilization with IVF treatment. ICSI treatment is used in cases where male partner experiences:

Low sperm count

Ejaculation issues

Presence of high levels of antibodies in the semen

Poor sperm quality

Failure of conventional IVF cycles

An unusually high percentage of morphologically abnormal sperm

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) vs. Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

For patients, In Vitro Fertilization and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection treatments are the same treatments for treating infertility problems. In medical terms, conventional IVF is a treatment in which the sperm fertilizes an egg naturally, whereas ICSI procedure is an extended treatment of IVF, which is aimed at treating male infertility. ICSI treatment takes place in the clinical laboratories and under the supervision of skilled Infertility specialists.

The sperm sample is extracted from the male epididymis and eggs are extracted from the uterus.

Sperm is then injected into the egg using a tiny glass needle.

The fertilized egg is then kept for observation for growth and development.

The embryo is successfully implanted in the uterus to get better chances of conception.
